Déjà Vu
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Youngが1970年にReleaseした2nd Album。UKで5位・USで1位を獲得し、Worldwideで1400万枚以上Salesした。
Crosby, Stills, Nash & YoungはCaliforniaをOriginに持つFolk Rock Supergroupで、主に1968年から1970年まで活動した。その後も1976年に本格的に再始動し、2015年で再び終了。何と言ってもMemberが豪華で、The ByrdsのDavid Crosby・Buffalo SpringfieldのStephen Stills・The HolliesのGraham Nash・Neil Youngという面々。説明不要ですね。
AlbumはSelf Produceで制作され、Rolling Stone's the 500 greatest albums of all timeにおいて148位に選出された名盤。
OpeningはStillsがWriter and Lead Vocalの「Carry On」。冒頭から暫くはStillsのBassが印象的だが、徐々に低温は影を潜めカラッとしたTrackに変化する。続くはNashがWriterを担った「Teach Your Children」。こちらはSoftなVocalが好印象なCountry Rockで、Billboardで16位まで上昇。
泥臭いBlues調の「Almost Cut My Hair」は、CrosbyがWriter and Lead Vocal。3人の重厚なGuitar PlayとNashのOrganが聴き所。
YoungがWriter and Lead Vocalの「Helpless」は、ChorusのHarmony以外はNeil Youngの独壇場というかSolo Single？
Joni Mitchellでお馴染みの「Woodstock」は、Billboardで11位を記録。StillsがLead Vocalを務め、NashはElectric PianoをPlay。ChorusのHarmonyしかり、全体の一体感が凄い。当然Highlight。
Lyricのせいか歌い回しが楽しい「Déjà Vu」も良いが、Guitarを排除してNashがPianoをPlayした「Our House」が良質。NashのTrackは本当に優しさ溢れる。
「4 + 20」はStillsのSoloで、森林の中でAcoustic GuitarをPlayしながら歌ってるような雰囲気。
EndingはStills and YoungでWritingした「Everybody I Love You」。LastにしてPower Popに近い爽快感。
